We are seeking a skilled and experienced Algebra Tutor to provide one-on-one tutoring services to students in Oakland, California. As an Algebra Tutor, you will assist students in developing a strong foundation in algebraic concepts, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities. Your role will be instrumental in helping students improve their understanding of algebra and excel in their academic performance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with students, focusing on algebraic concepts and problem-solving strategies.
  2. Assess students' current knowledge and identify areas of improvement.
  3. Develop personalized lesson plans and learning objectives based on students' needs and goals.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field (preferred).
  2. Strong proficiency in algebraic concepts, including linear equations, quadratic equations, polynomials, functions, and graphing.
  3. Previous tutoring or teaching experience, preferably in algebra.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual students' needs.
  6. Patience, empathy, and the ability to create a supportive learning environment.
  7. Familiarity with curriculum standards and requirements in algebra.
  8. Proficient in using technology for teaching, such as interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online resources.
  9. Knowledge of the Oakland, California educational system (preferred).
