Job Description


Position Overview:

The Associate Professor in Accounting is responsible for delivering high-quality education, conducting advanced research, and contributing to the academic and administrative development of the accounting department. This role involves leading research initiatives, mentoring junior faculty and students, and collaborating with academic and industry partners.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Curriculum Development:

  • Deliver lectures in core and advanced accounting subjects (e.g., Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, and Taxation).

  • Design and develop innovative course content that aligns with industry standards and emerging trends.

  • Mentor and guide undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students in their academic and research pursuits.

  • Use modern teaching methodologies, including case studies, simulations, and technology-driven instruction.

2. Research & Publications:

  • Conduct original research in accounting and related fields.

  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, and contribute to the university’s research profile.

  • Seek research funding and collaborate with other institutions and industry partners on research projects.

3. Student Mentorship & Supervision:

  • Supervise doctoral candidates, master’s theses, and research projects.

  • Provide academic counseling and career mentorship to students.

  • Facilitate workshops and seminars to support student learning.

4. Academic Administration & Leadership:

  • Participate in academic committees, policy formulation, and strategic planning.

  • Contribute to the accreditation process, quality assurance, and curriculum reviews.

  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of faculty members and staff.

5. Industry & Community Engagement:

  • Establish partnerships with industry professionals to bridge the gap between academia and practice.

  • Organize and participate in seminars, webinars, and professional development programs.

  • Engage with professional accounting bodies (e.g., ICAI, ACCA, CPA) to align academic practices with industry standards.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of teaching or research experience, including at least 3 years as an Assistant Professor.

  • Publications: Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals.

  • Skills:

    • Deep understanding of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).

    • Strong communication and analytical skills.

    • Ability to integrate technology and modern tools in teaching and research.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership in professional bodies (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA).

  • Experience in curriculum development and academic leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to secure research grants and external funding.
