Reports To: Head of Digital Media / Communications Manager

Role Overview:

The Video Content Designer will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing high-quality video content to support the university's academic, promotional, and digital communication efforts. This role involves collaborating with faculty, staff, and the marketing team to produce engaging visual narratives that enhance the university's brand and outreach.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Video Production & Editing:

   • Plan, shoot, and edit professional video content, including promotional videos, lectures, interviews, and event coverage.

   • Utilize advanced video editing software to deliver polished and engaging content.

   • Ensure videos are optimized for various platforms, including YouTube, social media, and the university website.

2. Content Development:

   • Collaborate with academic and marketing teams to conceptualize and execute video projects that align with institutional goals.

   • Design compelling multimedia content to support e-learning initiatives, recruitment campaigns, and alumni engagement.

   • Storyboard and script video content to ensure clarity and visual impact.

3. Technical Operations:

   • Operate and maintain video production equipment (cameras, lighting, audio gear, etc.).

   • Manage video archives, including storage, organization, and retrieval of multimedia assets.

   • Implement best practices for video compression, encoding, and distribution.

4. Creative Direction & Innovation:

   • Stay updated on emerging video trends and technologies to enhance content quality.

   • Apply creative storytelling techniques to communicate complex academic subjects effectively.

   • Ensure consistency with the university’s brand guidelines and visual identity.

5. Collaboration & Project Management:

   • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver video projects on time and within scope.

   • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines and stakeholder expectations.

   • Provide creative input during brainstorming sessions and content strategy meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Design, Film Production, Communications, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in video production, editing, and digital content creation (experience in an academic setting is a plus).

• Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent).

• Strong technical knowledge of video formats, codecs, and compression standards.

• Experience with animation and motion graphics is preferred.

• Familiarity with DSLR cameras, lighting setups, and audio recording equipment.

• Ability to translate complex ideas into clear and visually appealing narratives.
