Punjab To Fill 550 Posts In Medical Colleges
In what could be identified as an unprecedented move, Punjab government has decided to fill more than 550 vacant posts in various medical colleges across the state. The move is aimed to further streamline these institutions whereby improving the health infrastructure.
The new posts would be a combination of 66 paramedics which will be of technical nature, 464 very critical posts of nurses, technicians and other class IV employees. Along with this 20 posts will be filled in the lab projects across the medical colleges and universities in the state. According to an official spokesperson, these posts will be filled as soon as possible. This was later confirmed in a press briefing after the meeting of the Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
These posts would be instrumental in putting into use the medical machinery, equipment and infrastructure, lying idle due to paucity of staff, thus providing better healthcare services to the people, said the spokesperson.
In addition, the Cabinet gave the nod for creation and filling of five new posts in the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, along with revival of the already sanctioned nine posts under its restructuring plan.
